PEELINKS Electronics Complex in Lokoja Destroyed by Fire

A fire has gutted the upper chamber of PEELINKS Electronics Limited, the largest electrical trading complex in Lokoja, Kogi State, resulting in damages estimated at hundreds of millions of naira. The incident occurred on Murtala Mohammed Way and is the second fire to affect the facility in six years, following a similar outbreak in 2020 that completely destroyed the building.
Mr Peter Onujeme, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PEELINKS Electronics Limited, was alerted to the fire at approximately 6:30 p.m. He suspects that a sudden power surge, attributed to unstable electricity supply in the area, may have triggered the blaze.
Fortunately, the quick response from the Lokoja Fire Service, the Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local youths helped prevent the fire from spreading to the lower chamber, averting further damage.
