Fire Destroys Residential Building and Shops in Anambra State, No Casualties Reported

In Anambra State, a fire outbreak engulfed a residential building and shops on Orumba Street in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area. The fire, which destroyed 28 apartments and multiple shops, started in one apartment before spreading rapidly to adjacent structures.

The blaze, estimated to have caused damages worth millions of naira, was eventually brought under control with the intervention of the Okpoko Police Division. Despite the extensive property damage, there were no casualties reported, and the police, led by CSP Ewelu Owai, ensured law and order during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, with preliminary reports suggesting a possible power surge following the restoration of electricity. The affected residents and shop owners faced significant losses, with the entire building reduced to ashes, leaving them in distress and uncertainty about rebuilding.
