Fire Destroys Nine Shops at Ibadan Shopping Complex

A devastating fire occurred at the Railway Shopping Complex on Alesinloye Market Road in Ibadan, destroying nine lock-up shops and goods valued at several millions of naira. The incident, attributed to an electric surge, was confirmed by Moroof Akinwande, the chairman of the Oyo Fire Services Agency.

Akinwande stated that the agency received a distress call regarding the fire at 5:58 a.m. and promptly dispatched firefighters, led by a Chief Fire Superintendent (CFS), to the scene. Upon arrival, the crew found nine shops engulfed in flames, with thick smoke emanating from the premises.

Firefighting operations commenced immediately, and additional support was requested, leading to the deployment of a second fire truck with a 10,000-litre water capacity to assist in extinguishing the fire.
