Fire Destroys Shops at Takumbo Market in Kano State

A fire outbreak occurred late Thursday night at Takumbo Market, located in the Murtala Moham Fagg Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria. The incident, reported at 10:54 PM, affected numerous shops and office spaces, leading to heavy losses for traders.

The Kano State Fire Service received a distress call and promptly deployed firefighting teams from their headquarters within the metropolitan area. The firefighters battled the flames for several hours to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent commercial buildings.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the fire was likely triggered by an electrical spark, which consumed a large quantity of goods stored in the market. The blaze severely damaged several structures, including offices and a parlour facility, with significant destruction reported in the upper section of the Kanawa building.

Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were recorded. Alhaji Sani Ana, the director of the Kano State Fire Service, urged business operators to pay closer attention to electrical safety and to report fire outbreaks promptly to allow for quick emergency response.
