First Aircraft Lands at Zamfara's Airport After 30 Years

On April 25, 2025, the first aircraft landed at Gusau International Airport in Zamfara State, marking a significant milestone after the airport's creation 30 years ago. Governor Dauda Lawal, through his spokesperson Sulaiman Bala Idri, confirmed that the Bombardier Challenger 605 aircraft conducted a test flight at 4:30 PM to assess the airport's readiness for VIP movement scheduled for the following week.

The flight complied with Nigerian Civil Aviation regulations, and the NCAA granted permission for the test, which was conducted under visual flight rules. Governor Lawal emphasized the historical importance of this day for Zamfara State and noted that the operational airport would address access issues that have deterred potential investors due to long travel times from Abuja.

He announced that the airport is expected to be fully operational within the next four months.
