Police Arrest Five in Fake Security Outfit Bust

The Rivers State Police Command dismantled a fake security outfit known as the Civilian Joint Task Force, arresting five suspects during an operation in Tai Local Government Area on May 6, 2026, at 2 PM. The operation was conducted following directives from Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu as part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal armed criminal groups.

The arrested individuals include Precious Mene (31, Gokana LGA, Rivers State), Bless Felix (25, Sagbama LGA, Bayelsa State), Barin Gaviga (32, Gokana LGA), Joi Ndornyi (26, Tai LGA), and Muham Ibrahim (35, Jigawa State). During the operation, three locally fabricated pump-action rifles were recovered.

The Rivers State Police Command stated that there is no legal authorization for any security outfit known as the Civilian Joint Task Force to operate in Nigeria. They warned against illegal possession of firearms and emphasized ongoing investigations to uncover the full scope of the group's activities.
