Five Rivers Police Inspectors Dismissed for Armed Robbery

Five police inspectors from the Rivers State Police Command were dismissed for their involvement in a violent criminal syndicate accused of armed robbery, kidnapping, and extortion. The announcement was made by Anthony Placid, the spokesperson for the command, on Friday.

The dismissed officers, identified as John Okoi, Eyibo Asuquo, Udo Ndipmong, Bright Nwachukwu, and Anel Ikechukwu, were part of a wider criminal network allegedly operating under the guise of police duties. They reportedly intercepted residents during illegal stop-and-search operations, accessing victims' mobile phones to steal funds from their bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets, amounting to millions of naira.

The investigation revealed a pattern of abductions and assaults occurring between September 2025 and January 2026. Three additional officers from Zone 16 headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, are facing further disciplinary action.
