Police Arrest Five for Operating Illegal Security Outfit

On May 6, 2026, at 14:00 hours, the Rivers State Police Command conducted an operation in Tai Local Government Area, resulting in the arrest of five suspects linked to an illegal security outfit called the "Civilian Joint Task Force." The operation was initiated following credible information and was part of a broader crackdown on unlawful armed criminal groups across Nigeria, directed by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu. The arrested individuals include Precious Mene, 31; Bless Felix, 25; Barin Gaviga, 32; Joi Ndornyi, 26; and Muham Ibrahim, 35.

The police recovered three locally made pump-action rifles during the operation. The Rivers State Police Command emphasized that no civilian has the legal authority to possess or operate firearms without proper authorization.
