Edo State Declares Five Cult Leaders Wanted Amid Violence

The Edo State Government has declared five cult leaders wanted, giving them a seven-day ultimatum to surrender to the authorities. This announcement was made on Monday, following a resurgence of cultism and kidnappings in Benin City.

The statement was issued by Patrick Akher Ebojel, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor. The individuals named include Okiaghel Obazagbon and Innoc Okunoze, both members of the Black Axe confraternity.

The Special Security Squad, led by the Principal Security Officer of the Edo State Governor, has conducted raids resulting in the arrest of suspects linked to cult activities. Two suspects, Osaze Omoruyi and Osahon Anito, were identified as members of the Black Axe confraternity during these operations.

Weapons, including a pump-action gun and a Beretta pistol, were recovered from a vehicle associated with the suspects. The government urges citizens to provide information leading to further arrests, emphasizing a commitment to eradicating cultism in the state.
