Rivers Police Arrest Officers for Motorist Extortion

The Rivers State Police Command has taken action against officers caught extorting motorists in a viral video. The incident involved ASP Omomef Akin Geoffrey and his team from the Old Gra Police Station, who were accused of systematically targeting motorists, particularly those with tinted windscreens.

Allegations included demanding cash payments starting at 100,000 Naira, disregarding valid tint glass permits. The command, led by CP Olugbenga Adepoju, issued a statement on Tuesday, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations and the need for professional conduct among police personnel.

The command has ordered the immediate arrest and detention of the implicated officers for investigation. CP Adepoju reiterated that extortion and unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated, assuring the public of a thorough and transparent investigation.
