NEDC Launches Bridge Reconstruction in Maiduguri

The Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) has initiated the reconstruction of essential bridges in Maiduguri, specifically targeting the Moromoro area, which has faced significant access difficulties due to the collapse of two bridges. The Managing Director/CEO, Mohammed Goni Alkali, inspected the project site on Saturday, noting that the project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

The reconstruction involves building new bridges and expanding the Moromoro culvert to a 16-cell, 120-meter bridge, along with upgrading a 180-meter bridge in Galtimari Ward. Alkali emphasized the technical expertise required for the project, particularly due to the narrow area with high business activity, necessitating the deployment of heavy-duty equipment.

He assured that various road constructions in the state are nearing 95% completion, aiming to enhance transportation and stimulate socio-economic activities in the region. Engr.
