NIA Urges Flood Victims in Lagos to File Insurance Claims

The Nigerian Insurance Association (NIA) has directed individuals, families, and businesses affected by recent floods in Lagos State to notify their insurance companies, brokers, or agents to commence the claims process without delay. This directive follows persistent heavy rainfall that has caused significant damage.

NIA Chairman Mr. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu expressed sympathy for the victims, acknowledging the emotional and financial hardships caused by the floods.

He stressed the importance of early notification and submission of necessary supporting documents to facilitate timely assessment and settlement of valid claims. Nwachukwu also highlighted the need for proper environmental sanitation and waste disposal to reduce flooding risks, noting that natural disasters can occur despite preventive measures.

He underscored the critical role of insurance as a financial protection mechanism for individuals and businesses, urging policyholders whose properties have been affected to act promptly.
