Flying Eagles Demand Unpaid Bonuses from NFF Amid Promises

Players of Nigeria's U-20 men's team, the Flying Eagles, are demanding unpaid bonuses from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which has promised a partial settlement. The players are owed bonuses for six competitions, including the WAFU B Cup, U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, and FIFA U-20 World Cup, amounting to $5,000 per player per tournament, alongside a daily camp allowance of $100.

The current coach, Ladan Bosso, led the team to win the WAFU B Cup and reach the semi-finals of the AFCON, securing a World Cup ticket. The team, under captain Aliyu Zubair, also qualified for the AFCON and reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in South Korea.

NFF President Amaju Pinnick has faced criticism for scrapping match bonuses since 2017, leading to fears among players regarding the settlement of their allowances. NFF General Secretary Moham Sanusi has dismissed claims that payments will be ignored, although full settlement may not occur immediately.
