FMLD Partners with CHROMEDIX for Local Pharma Manufacturing

On June 23, 2026, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, represented by Minister Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, engaged with CHROMEDIX Limited to discuss a proposal for local veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing. This initiative aligns with the federal government's livestock transformation agenda, aiming to improve access to quality veterinary healthcare products and reduce reliance on imports.

Dr. Denni Browni, leading the CHROMEDIX team, presented the company's proposal, which seeks to establish Nigeria's first local manufacturing facility for veterinary hormone products.

This landmark project is expected to enhance animal health solutions and form part of a broader strategy to develop the first hormone pharmaceutical manufacturing platform in Sub-Saharan Africa. The collaboration with Bayer is anticipated to facilitate technology transfer and strengthen local capacity.

The project is aligned with the government's objectives to improve livestock productivity, enhance food security, and create employment opportunities, positioning Nigeria as a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
