UBRBDA Upgrades Irrigation Facilities to Boost Agriculture

The Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA) has commenced significant upgrades to obsolete irrigation facilities at Lake Gerio in Adamawa State. This initiative is part of the broader strategy to boost agricultural production in the region, coinciding with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda." During a tour in Yola, Dr.

Mahmud Sanusi, the Managing Director of UBRBDA, emphasized the importance of modernizing irrigation systems to alleviate the financial burden associated with outdated equipment. The upgrades aim to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of irrigation services for farmers in Adamawa State, where 1,500 farmers currently benefit from services at Lake Gerio.

The modernization effort is expected to improve agricultural productivity and ensure that farmers have access to reliable irrigation, which has been hampered by the use of obsolete machinery for decades.
