Hadi Sirika Announces 2027 Senate Candidacy in Katsina

Hadi Sirika, the former Aviation Minister, has declared his intention to run for the Katsina North senatorial seat in the 2027 elections, representing the Progressive Congress. During a television interview, Sirika addressed the failures associated with the proposed Nigeria Air project, which aimed to establish a national carrier.

He attributed the project's challenges to various factors, including the involvement of Ethiopian Airlines and the limitations faced by domestic carriers. Sirika noted that approximately 100 billion naira was spent on the process, with only 3 billion naira released from the total budget of 5 billion naira for the national carrier.

He highlighted that local airlines had contested the establishment of the national carrier, which ultimately stalled the entire process. Sirika's announcement marks a significant step as he seeks to transition from his ministerial role to a legislative position.
