Former Deputy Governor Claims Ownership of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Disowns Kwankwaso

Former Kano State Deputy Governor, Hafizu Abubakar, has disassociated former presidential candidate Kwankwaso from being the founder of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. Abubakar claims to be the true brainchild of the movement, alleging that he distributed 600 motorcycles to social media influencers at the Kano Government House.

He asserts that the movement's red cap dress code and name were his ideas, not Kwankwaso's. Abubakar explains that the movement emerged to help Kwankwaso's administration overcome initial challenges within the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He expresses bitterness over the movement's history being misrepresented and hijacked. Abubakar recalls founding the movement in Gwale LGA years ago to counter political adversaries within the PDP.

He emphasizes that the movement aimed to strengthen the party rather than form a new one.
