Nasiru Gawuna Resigns as Chairman of Federal Mortgage Bank

Nasiru Gawuna, the former Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, announced his resignation effective March 27, 2023. This decision aligns with a directive from President Bola Tinubu, requiring political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act ahead of the upcoming political activities.

In his resignation letter, Gawuna expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and described his tenure as a privilege that allowed him to contribute to the growth of Nigeria's housing sector. He assured the board members of a smooth transition process and stated that he would hand over his official responsibilities according to established procedures.

Although Gawuna is a member of the All Progressives Congress and a candidate for the 2023 Kano State governorship election, he has not formally declared his intent to contest for the office. His resignation has sparked speculation regarding his preparations for future electoral participation.
