Adam Gemili Retires: A Look Back at His Sprinting Career

Adam Gemili, a former European sprint champion, has officially retired from athletics at the age of 32. He was a prominent figure in sprinting, having represented Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics, where he reached the semi-finals in the 100m event.

Gemili won a relay medal at the 2014 World Championships and became the European champion in the 200m. He also competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, he expressed gratitude for the support and belief shown throughout his career. Notably, Gemili narrowly missed a medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics, finishing fourth in the 200m, just 0.003 seconds shy of bronze.

He also finished fourth at the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships. Throughout his career, he became one of only three British male sprinters to run the 100m in under 10 seconds and the 200m in under 20 seconds, with personal bests of 9.97 seconds and 19.97 seconds, respectively.
