Ikoh Rejects Abia APC Primary Loss, Plans Petition

Henri Ikechukwu Ikoh, the former Minister of State for Science and Technology, has publicly rejected the outcome of the Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, which saw Eric Opah emerge as the candidate. Ikoh announced his intention to petition the national leadership of the APC, asserting that the primary results contradicted a prior consensus agreement made by the party's State Working Committee (SWC).

Ikedi Ezekwesili, the director general of Ikoh's campaign, supported this claim, stating that the SWC members had deviated from the established consensus. Ikoh described Opah's victory as unacceptable and warned that imposing candidates against collective decisions could lead to disaffection within the party.

Additionally, he expressed support for other aspirants, including Ngozi Orji, who alleged that her mandate was denied in the primary process. Chijiok Chukwu, the APC state chairman, mentioned that the party would establish a peace reconciliation committee to address grievances from the primary.
