Mari Ekper Declares Senate Candidacy for Cross River Central

Barr. Mari Ekper, the former Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) in Abuja, announced her candidacy for the Senate representing the Cross River Central district under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Her declaration took place during an APC ward meeting in Ikom LGA over the weekend. Ekper highlighted her commitment to prioritizing the restoration of electricity, empowering women and youth, and improving the quality of social services in her constituency.

Despite not winning a Senate seat in her previous attempt in 2023, she remains dedicated to her constituents and aims to attract impactful projects. Ekper's campaign will focus on initiatives such as installing solar power, boreholes, and street lights, as well as training programs for women and youth.

She expressed a strong desire to ensure transparency and accountability in governance, promising to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Cross River Central. Ekper's candidacy is significant as it aims to create history by potentially being the first female senator from the district.
