Ekper Demands Victory in APC Cross River Central Primary

Barr Mari Ekper has called for her declaration as the winner of the APC Cross River Central senatorial primary, which took place on Monday. Ekper, a former Director General of the National Centre for Women Development, stated that she received 32,426 votes, while her closest competitor, Eteng Jonah Williams, garnered 726 votes.

Despite this, there are questions regarding the participation of Oden Ibiang Ewa, whose name appeared on the list of senatorial aspirants but was reportedly disqualified. Ekper has submitted a petition to the Senate Appeal Committee, urging them to declare her the winner based on her vote count and to nullify the results attributed to Ewa.

She emphasized the need for strict adherence to the APC's primary regulations and the Electoral Act. Ekper expressed confidence that the committee would address her appeal fairly and stated her intention to consult party leaders for support in her pursuit of justice.
