Former Southern Governor Under Investigation for Alleged Coup Plot Targeting President Tinubu

A former governor from a southern Nigerian state is being investigated for his suspected role in a coup plot aimed at overthrowing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. The Defence Intelligence Agency, representing all three branches of the military, has arrested 16 military officers, including a brigadier general and a colonel, for their alleged involvement.

The former governor's financial ties and past activities in the oil and gas sector are also under scrutiny. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact nature of the ex-governor's recent interactions with the detained officers.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau has described the coup plot allegations as false and misleading.
