Osinbajo Appointed Senior Advisor to Africa CDC

Yemi Osinbajo, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has been appointed as a senior strategic advisor to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). This appointment was announced by the organization's Director General, Jean Kaseya, and aims to strengthen the leadership capacity of Africa CDC in advancing health priorities on the continent. Margaret Edwin, Director of Communication and Public Information at Africa CDC, stated that Osinbajo's role aligns with the agenda of enhancing Africa's influence in global health matters. His responsibilities will include providing strategic advice on sustainable health financing, local manufacturing of medical products, and fostering strategic partnerships to bolster Africa's health resilience. Osinbajo's extensive background in governance and public policy is noted as particularly valuable, especially in areas such as pandemic preparedness and response. His previous roles include serving as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State and chairing Nigeria's Economic Sustainability Committee.
