Former VP's Aide Retracts $10m Bribe Claim Against Senate Leaders

Alwan Hassan, a former aide to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, publicly withdrew his claim that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin took a $10 million bribe. Hassan apologized for the unfounded accusations during a press briefing in Abuja, admitting they were based on rumors and unverified information.

The Senate rejected the bribery claims as baseless, with Abdullahi Ramat's confirmation as Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) put on hold pending further investigation. The nominee's appointment remains in limbo as the Senate reviews the situation.
