Foundation Cricket Club Celebrates 40 Years of Impact

Foundation Cricket Club, recognized as Nigeria's oldest cricket club, celebrated its 40th anniversary on Sunday at Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval. The club, established during the 1985/1986 season, has significantly contributed to the growth and development of cricket in Nigeria, winning several laurels and producing players who represented the country.

The event featured the launch of the FCC coffee table book and awards presented to deserving individuals and organizations. Olayinka Fisher, the club's chairman emeritus, expressed satisfaction with the club's progress since its 30th anniversary.

Founding member Kwesi Sago recounted the club's format over four decades, emphasizing its mission to provide opportunities for less prominent cricketers. The event was attended by dignitaries including Wahid Oshodi, Babajid Candid Johnson, and Ewa Henshaw, among others, who acknowledged the club's impact on the sport.
