Foundation to Launch Cancer Centre in Nigeria

The Foundation, founded by Dr. Keyna Omenukor in 2015 in honor of her late husband David Omenukor, is set to open a cancer center in Nigeria to enhance access to affordable cancer care. Dr. Omenukor announced this initiative during the launch of the Foundation’s 2026 breast and cervical cancer awareness and early detection campaign in Mesquite, Texas.

The campaign, organized in partnership with Methodist Health System, included free mammogram screenings for underserved women. Dr. Omenukor emphasized the need for collaboration among the Nigerian government, private-sector organizations, NGOs, healthcare institutions, and diaspora groups to realize the project.

The Foundation aims to address healthcare inequality and remove financial barriers to cancer screening and treatment. Mobile mammography units are also planned to reach women in remote areas.

The campaign's ultimate goal is to save lives and promote preventive healthcare, having already identified several precancerous conditions during screenings.
