On April 2, 2026, the Katsina State Police Command arrested four suspects linked to a mob action that led to the death of a trader identified as KC Joe in Kokami Village, Danja Local Government Area. The incident began with a dispute between KC Joe and Ibrahim Auwal, during which KC Joe allegedly stabbed Auwal. Following the altercation, Auwal was rushed to Abdullahi Makama Hospital but was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor. This triggered a mob response from the youth in the community, who attacked KC Joe, killing him and setting his body ablaze on a nearby road. The police were dispatched to restore peace in the area, and the state Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar, condemned the violence, urging residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ensure justice. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
