Troops Prevent Mob Attack on Police Outpost in Katsina

On April 5, 2026, at approximately 4:30 PM, troops from the 17 Brigade successfully thwarted a mob attempt to attack a police outpost in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The troops responded to a distress call from the Nigerian Police after reports indicated that a large, angry crowd had gathered at the police station, intending to lynch a suspect in custody and set the facility ablaze.

The swift deployment of the combat team from Danali Village helped to control the situation, preventing further escalation and significant damage. The mob had already become violent in their attempt to burn down the police station.

During the operation, police officers reportedly fired tear gas to disperse the crowd, which resulted in one individual being injured and requiring medical treatment.
