Four CJTF Members Killed Defending Katsina Community

Four members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were killed while repelling a bandit attack on the Katsina community of Guga. The attackers, arriving on motorcycles and armed, targeted the CJTF personnel guarding the area.

Despite being heavily outnumbered, the CJTF and local vigilantes engaged the assailants in a gun battle, successfully preventing them from rustling livestock. A resident, who requested anonymity, reported that the slain CJTF members fought bravely, and their sacrifice was crucial in stopping the bandits from stealing animals.

The incident underscores the ongoing insecurity in northern Bakori, where communities have faced repeated attacks, killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling. As of the report's filing, neither the Katsina State Government nor security agencies had issued an official statement regarding the attack.

DSP Sadiq Aliyu, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, stated he would verify the incident but had not provided feedback at the time of reporting.
