Bauchi APC Governorship Race Heats Up Ahead of Primaries

The race for the APC governorship ticket in Bauchi State is intensifying, featuring four key candidates: Ali Pate, Yusuf Tuggar, Bala Wunti, and Shehu Buba. Ali Pate, the current Minister of Health and Social Welfare, has not resigned despite calls from supporters, which has raised speculation about his intentions for the governorship bid.

His spokesperson, Ibrahim Abdulhamid, stated that Pate's services are still needed at the national level. In contrast, Yusuf Tuggar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, resigned on March 31, signaling his commitment to the governorship race.

The APC primaries are set for May 21, 2027. Tuggar emphasizes a results-driven governance approach, focusing on agriculture, economic development, and social welfare.
