Police Kill Three Suspected Armed Robbers in Benue

The Benue State Police Command reported the killing of three suspected armed robbers during a proactive security operation between June 6 and June 12, 2026. The operation, which was intelligence-led, took place along the Vaas Chito road in Ukum Local Government Area.

The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, two locally fabricated guns, and a dozen live ammunition. During the operation, members of the community volunteer guard engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle.

Following the encounter, three suspects were killed, while others escaped on motorcycles with gunshot wounds. The police also arrested additional suspects linked to a notorious cult group and recovered various firearms and charms.

Cletu Nwadiogbu, the new Commissioner of Police, commended the officers for their bravery and assured residents of the command's commitment to combating crime.
