PSG Celebrates Champions League Win Amid Unrest in Paris

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) celebrated their second consecutive Champions League title with a parade in Paris on Sunday, following their victory over Arsenal in Budapest on Saturday night, which was decided by a penalty shootout (4-3). The celebration, attended by approximately 40,000 fans, was marked by unrest, leading to the arrest of nearly 780 individuals across France and injuries to 57 police officers, with eight in critical condition.

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the violence as "unspeakable" and expressed pride in PSG's achievements. PSG's president, Nasser Al Khelaifi, appealed to fans to celebrate calmly.

The unrest included clashes between youth and police, with incidents of looting and vandalism reported in multiple cities. Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gregoir downplayed the severity of the incidents, attributing them to a minority of troublemakers.

The police deployed 6,000 officers to maintain order during the celebrations, which were overshadowed by the violent outbreaks.
