France's FFF Withdraws Support for Infantino's FIFA Bid

The French Football Federation (FFF) announced on Thursday that it will not support Gianni Infantino's candidacy for FIFA president in the upcoming election scheduled for March 2027. This decision aligns the FFF with other European federations, including Belgium, Italy, Scotland, Sweden, and Wales, which have also publicly withdrawn their support for Infantino.

FIFA confirmed last weekend that Infantino, who is currently 56 years old and from Switzerland, will stand for re-election despite facing backlash over his now-abandoned proposal to introduce private investment into the men’s and women’s World Cups. At this point, Infantino is the only candidate for the presidency, although CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani is viewed as a potential challenger.

FFF president Philippe Diallo stated that the trust placed in the FIFA president has been betrayed and that the governance of world football no longer reflects the federation's views, leading to their unanimous decision to withdraw support.
