Free Medical Outreach Treats 6,842 Residents in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Government conducted a free medical outreach program that reached 6,842 residents between May 1 and May 17, 2026. The initiative, announced by spokesperson Sulaiman Bala Idri, aimed to improve healthcare delivery and address serious medical cases among vulnerable populations.

The outreach provided treatment for conditions such as cataracts, hernias, hydroceles, and vesicovaginal fistulas. It was part of a broader effort to offer free medical treatment for common surgical conditions.

The program has conducted 17 phases so far, covering 5,282 surgical cases and 1,200 medical cases, with tele-screening and specialist interventions included. The outreach targeted residents in rural and semi-urban communities across 14 local government areas in Zamfara.
