NYSC Offers Free Medical Services to 757 in Jigawa

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) conducted a rural health outreach in Jigawa, providing free medical services to 757 individuals. The initiative, led by NYSC state coordinator Bala Muhammad, aimed to bridge the gap in access to basic healthcare for vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, and the elderly.

The outreach took place at the Chamo Primary Health Care Centre in Dutsin-Ma and offered diagnosis, treatment, and health education sessions at no cost. NYSC medical corps members treated conditions such as malaria and hypertension and promoted hygiene practices.

Aminu Ibrahim, representing the district head, highlighted the persistent barriers to healthcare access in rural areas, emphasizing the need for frequent outreach services. Local leaders and state officials welcomed the intervention, urging government agencies and donors to replicate such initiatives to improve healthcare access in underserved communities.
