Gawuna Set to Leave APC for ADC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, is preparing to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This move follows Gawuna's resignation from APC three months ago, where he briefly joined the New Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside the Kwankwasiyya movement led by Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Upon joining the NDC, Gawuna accepted the party's Kano Central senatorial ticket. Currently, discussions between Gawuna's camp and ADC leadership are at an advanced stage, with a final meeting scheduled to conclude arrangements for his entry into the ADC.

Musa Ungogo, the ADC chairman, confirmed that Gawuna's camp initiated the discussions. Gawuna holds significant political influence across multiple local government areas, which he intends to leverage for the ADC's electoral success in the upcoming 2027 governorship election.

The ADC is reviewing Gawuna's political interests and plans to make an official position known after consultations.
