INEC Offers Biometric Technology to JAMB for Exams

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has proposed to share its biometric verification technology with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to improve the integrity of JAMB's examinations. This offer was made by INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan during a courtesy visit from JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina and his management team on a Friday.

Amupitan commended JAMB's significant role in national development and emphasized INEC's technological advancements demonstrated in recent elections in Ekiti and Osun states, as well as the FCT Area Council election. He instructed INEC's Director of Information and Communications to conduct a proof-of-concept review to determine the suitability of INEC's biometric equipment for JAMB's needs.

Prof. Aina expressed JAMB's intention to upgrade its verification systems and requested the release of any inactive biometric machines from INEC. The meeting also included INEC National Commissioner Prof. Abdullahi Abdu-Zuru and Chief Press Secretary Adedayo Oketola.
