INEC and JAMB Collaborate on Biometric Verification

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed its readiness to assist the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) with biometric verification technology to enhance collaboration between the two agencies. This offer was made during a courtesy visit on Friday, led by JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina to INEC headquarters in Abuja.

Aina highlighted JAMB's interest in utilizing INEC's extensive experience in biometric technology for the identification and verification of Nigerians, aiming to strengthen the integrity of its examination processes. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan welcomed the delegation and acknowledged JAMB's critical role in Nigeria's education system.

He noted that INEC's recent electoral engagements demonstrated its technological capacity, which received commendations from stakeholders. Amupitan directed Dr. Lawrence Bayode, the Director of Information and Communications Technology, to assess JAMB's request for biometric equipment.

He emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration and assured JAMB of INEC's willingness to explore further cooperation.
