EFCC Storms Malami's Abuja Residence in Major Operation

On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives executed an operation at the Abuja residence of former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, arriving in at least five buses and heavily armed personnel. The operation, which took place at No 2 Koranakh Close off Amazon Street in Maitama, aimed to enforce an interim forfeiture order granted by the court, believed to be connected to ongoing investigations into alleged financial improprieties involving Malami.

The EFCC officials barricaded roads leading to the residence, restricting movement in the area. Malami described the operation as an attempt to harass members of his family and alleged that the EFCC extended its actions beyond his primary residence.

He insisted that the agency's actions were unjustified and raised concerns about the timing of the operation coinciding with the visit of prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. As of now, the EFCC has not issued an official statement regarding the operation.
