Legal Challenge Over Oyo ADC Governorship Candidacy

The governorship ticket crisis of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has intensified as Dr Azeez Adeduntan confirmed that Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke's name was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the party's leadership. Adeduntan has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging Adegoke's nomination as the party's valid candidate.

The suit names INEC as the 1st respondent, ADC as the 2nd respondent, Chinedu Idigo (National Organising Secretary of ADC) as the 3rd respondent, Harrison Akpojero (Chairman, Oyo State Electoral Committee of ADC) as the 4th respondent, and Adegoke as the 5th respondent. The Oyo Youth Alliance (OYA) has stated that Adeduntan's suit undermines Gbemileke Alagbe's claim to the governorship candidacy, as Alagbe had recently appointed a deputy governorship candidate.

OYA emphasized that Adeduntan's legal action confirms Adegoke's nomination on August 5, 2026, and advised Alagbe to cease creating confusion within the party.
