Princess Damilola Sonayon-James Nominated for APC Deputy Governor

Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, a member of the royal lineage as the granddaughter of the late Oba Afolabi Jame of the Kweme Kingdom in Badagry, has been nominated for the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship ticket for Lagos State in the 2027 elections. Her nomination was announced on May 31, 2026, alongside Dr.

Obafemi Hamzat. Princess Damilola has a background in local governance, having served as a supervisory councillor for agriculture and social services in Badagry West and as an assistant state woman leader for the APC.

She has developed a strong network within the party's female youth wing and initiated grassroots projects, including solar-powered streetlights and educational supply distribution. Her professional experience includes roles as a risk consultant and managing director at a logistics firm, and she holds a master's degree in social work specializing in community development from Lautech, as well as a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Hull.

At 40 years old, she aims to elevate representation for women in Lagos leadership.
