APC Names Damilola Sonayon-James as Hamzat's Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled Damilola Sonayon-James as the deputy governorship candidate alongside Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

The announcement was made by Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State APC chairman, following extensive consultations within the party. Sonayon-James, who currently serves as the Lagos APC Deputy Woman Leader, received endorsements from President Bola Tinubu and the party's Governance Advisory Council.

Ojelabi highlighted that her selection was based on several factors, including her leadership capabilities, grassroots appeal, loyalty to the party, and her potential contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State. The APC leadership is optimistic that the Hamzat-Sonayon-James ticket will attract support from various interest groups, including labor organizations, transport unions, and religious groups.

The party aims to promote inclusivity and encourage greater participation of women and youth in governance as part of its development agenda.
