Israelis and Palestinians Collaborate in Startup Initiative

Salah Hussein, a Palestinian entrepreneur, is part of the 50/50 Startup program, which brings together Palestinian and Israeli entrepreneurs to foster collaboration despite ongoing regional tensions. The program includes 35 participants, working in mixed teams over six months to develop startups.

Hussein, motivated by a desire for change, collaborates with Israeli co-founder Yana Shaulov, a molecular biologist. Their team, which includes two other Palestinians and an Israeli Christian woman, is focused on innovative projects such as AI-powered cameras and water purification systems.

The initiative aims to build trust and cooperation through business, acknowledging the emotional challenges of cross-border collaboration. Despite the high failure rate of startups and external pressures from political tensions, participants like Salah Elsadi and Sarah Blum share personal experiences of conflict, emphasizing the need for new beginnings rather than revenge.

The program, founded by Amir Grinstein, adapts to global disruptions and aims to develop friendships that transcend business.
