Nigeria Launches Digital Passport Renewal for UK Citizens

The Nigerian government has launched a digital passport renewal system for its citizens in the UK, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the renewal process. Previously, Nigerians had to travel to the Nigerian High Commission in London, often facing long queues and extended wait times, sometimes up to six months.

The new contactless system, introduced under the administration of Minister Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, allows applicants to complete the entire renewal process online, including document uploads, payments, and tracking progress. Testimonials from members of the Nigerian community, such as Timileyin Gbenga and Adiku Adeola Victoria, indicate that the new system has drastically reduced processing times, with passports delivered to their homes within five days.
