Nigerians Abroad Can Renew Passports Contactlessly

The Nigeria Immigration Service has released an update regarding a contactless passport renewal process for Nigerians living abroad. This new system encourages the Nigerian diaspora to take advantage of the digital platform for passport services.

However, it is important to note that not all applicants may qualify for the contactless process; ineligible applicants will be redirected to the main page of the portal to book a physical appointment at an embassy or high commission. Successful applicants will complete biometric enrollment through the contactless application, after which they can print the application form and make the necessary payment.

The current passport must be enclosed in a self-addressed return envelope when submitting the application to the embassy. Additionally, applicants will be able to monitor the progress of their application submissions and track their success within two weeks via the Nigeria Immigration Service mobile app.
