Police Crackdown on Unregistered Number Plates Nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force has launched a nationwide enforcement operation targeting vehicles with unregistered or obscured number plates, following a directive from Inspector General Olatunji Disu. The initiative aims to enhance public safety and improve vehicle identification to prevent criminal activities.

Kogi State Police Command has commenced a statewide operation against vehicles that conceal or alter their registration plates, with spokesperson ASP Afusat Oyiza emphasizing the need for compliance. Vehicles found violating regulations will be impounded and subjected to investigation.

Similarly, Delta State Police Command, led by PPRO SP Bright Edaf, announced a crackdown on vehicles without valid registration plates, highlighting the security risks posed by such vehicles. Rivers State Police Commissioner Olugbenga Adepoju has also initiated operations in Port Harcourt, warning against extortion during enforcement.

The operation includes monitoring compliance and ensuring that vehicles display valid and visible registration plates, with specific restrictions on tricycles and motorcycles operating after 10 PM.
