FRSC Raises Alarm on Reckless Driving in Abuja

Shehu Mohammed, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), raised concerns about reckless driving in Abuja while speaking at the Third Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU) organized by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in Lagos. The summit focused on Nigeria's transition to cleaner mobility under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.

Mohammed noted that despite road expansions, the FRSC's personnel and logistics have not increased, leading to challenges in enforcing traffic regulations. He emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and cannot be achieved through enforcement alone.

Mohammed also pointed out the need for better road infrastructure, including guardrails and road signs, which are often vandalized. He called for collaboration among government agencies to tackle road safety issues effectively.

Additionally, he discussed the FRSC's commitment to supporting cleaner transportation, including electric and compressed natural gas vehicles, while addressing the unique safety challenges they present.
