FRSC Advises Motorists to Slow Down During Rainy Season

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a warning to motorists in Ogun State, advising them to reduce their speed and exercise patience when approaching potholes on highways during the rainy season. Oludar Ogunjobi, the Ogun Sector Command of the FRSC, highlighted the necessity of this advice due to the wet and slippery conditions that make vehicle control difficult.

Motorists are urged to maintain double or triple the distance from the vehicle ahead and to apply common sense by reducing speed below the posted limits when it rains. Ogunjobi also stressed the importance of proactive vehicle maintenance, including checking worn tires and ensuring essential components like windscreen wipers are functional.

He advised drivers to avoid flood-prone areas and to park safely off the road during heavy rain. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted variable rainfall patterns, with Ogun expected to experience a longer rainy season, necessitating increased caution among drivers.
