FTAN Targets Six-Month Development for South-East Tourism

On September 6, 2026, Wilson Uche Ugwu, the Vice President of the South-East Zone and Chairman of the Zonal Executive Council of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), announced a six-month target to create a unified tourism circuit connecting Enugu, Anambra, Abia, and Imo states. This initiative aims to transition the region from discussions about tourism potential to tangible growth in visitor numbers, investment, jobs, and revenue.

Immediate stakeholder consultations and destination mapping will focus on major attractions, priority routes, infrastructure gaps, investment opportunities, and potential partners. The council's vision is encapsulated in the motto “One Region.

One Voice. One Tourism Vision.” Chief Ben Etiaba, FCA, the keynote speaker, emphasized the need for the region to transform its cultural and historical attractions into viable tourism products.

He advocated for enhanced cooperation among the five states through regional tourism circuits and coordinated marketing efforts to attract more visitors.
